Pres Phillip's last Zone Conference

Bonjour à tous! I hope everyone is doing great. Happy fathers day to all of the amazing fathers out there. Happy Fathers day to my amazing dad! Love you! This week here has been super interesting but super fun at the same time. Here is a quick run down of what happened.

Last Wednesday we started off the day with studies like normal and then we had a couple of lessons. We had a lesson with jimmy and helped him do some of the Come, follow me. After that we went over and visited  our buddy Wayne. He is doing really good. He really likes when we come over because he can feel the spirit more and loves talking about the gospel with us. We watched a couple gospel videos with him. Those are so well made! If you have the chance, go watch them, especially for the ones for this weeks Come, follow me work. That night we had a lesson with a less active member. It was really good. We walked with her to the park and studied together from Preach my Gospel. We went through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and our life here on earth. We had a very nice discussion and learned a lot.

Thursday we didn't get a whole ton done but we did have lunch with our bishop and his wife. They are amazing and take care of us a ton. Later that day we had a lesson with Ken. He is doing good and is really close to being baptized but we just visit him now to help him read the Book of Mormon more. We had a good discussion with him and hopefully he will be baptized here soon. Later that night we drove down to Montreal for zone conference the next day.

Friday was Zone conference. It was President Phillip's last one before he goes home. The next one we have will be with president Lowe. During the conference we talked about who we are. We are children of our Loving Heavenly father who has blessed us all with so much good. He has also blessed us with many spiritual gifts. We read in Moroni 10 about spiritual gifts and then learned how we can better use them to help ourselves and to help others around us. It was really good. We also talked a bit about the new changes coming up in our mission  and what that will be like. I'm excited to meet our new president and some of the other new missionaries there. After Zone conference, Elder Taruoura and I had interviews with president for the last time and it was awesome. I've enjoyed all of my interviews with him. President and sister Phillips are awesome. By the time we got home that night we had dinner with a ward member and had a nice lesson with Rada. She is from Syria and is very Catholic. We have seen her a few times but this time her family was over. She has three sons who are also Catholic. We tried to teach them the plan of salvation but there was a little bit of a language barrier because they mostly spoke Arabic and only a little bit of French and English. I said the couple of words I know in Arabic and then we just kinda kept going back a forth between French and English. It got kinda confusing but the spirit was still there trying to help us the best it could. I love the saying, "Do your best and the Lord will do the rest".  We did our best and left the rest to the Lord. After that visited another less active and I was able to meet her daughter who is getting ready for baptism as well. There is a reason why the Lord commanded us to be like a little child. She has such a strong testimony and spirit with her.

Saturday was kinda weird. We started off with studies and then after some miscommunication and changes in plans, we finally had district council in Granby. It was pretty good but everything is kinda far from here so we got some good traveling time in. After we got a lesson in with Bruno. He is doing good but not progressing a whole ton so we will see with him later. Later that night we had a lesson with one of our recent converts here and it turned into a dinner appointment with him too. It was really good.
Sunday was a pretty normal Sunday. Church was good. After church we did some pass bys and checked up on a few people and then had dinner with the herring family again and after that we got to call our fathers for fathers day! It was really nice to be able to talk to my dad and everyone else ahah.

Yesterday after studies we passed by a few members houses and then tried to do some finding at the park. It's a little harder to find that way but we had some neat experience while talking to some of the people there. We had another lesson with Jimmy as well and talked about Jesus during his crucifixion and death. It was a pretty spiritual lesson. There is nothing that brings the spirit more into any room than talking about Jesus Christ and his gospel. Later that night we had dinner with bishop and his family again and Sister Bergeron cut our hair for us. Mine started off really good and then we just decided that it would be easier to cut it short and make it look better again. Finally at the end of it all, my hair ended up nice and short.

That's about all of it for this week. The people we are teaching are progressing nice and well and the less actives are also slowly coming back to church too! The work is moving along here in Sherbrooke and I hope it's going well wherever you are too. I love you all and hope you have a fabulous week.

Love you lots,
Elder Beckstrand

Time to buy some new shoes.  These were being held together with super glue.
