Painting and early Christmas!

Bonjour everyone! How is everyone doing? Winter is official here in Mont-Saint-Hilaire. Earlier this week it got down to -18 and this morning we got about 6 inches of snow. This week has been full of service, teaching, and miracles!!

Last P-day we tried to pass by a couple peoples houses but no one was home so we ended up doing some good street contacting. We walked pretty far and ended up losing our car for about an hour or so. We completely forgot where we parked it but eventually found it.
Wednesday we had some good studies! Everyone needs to read the Book of Mormon. We then went and spent some time with a part member family that are also less active. They were really open to us and we are going to lunch with them some time soon. It is really cool to see peoples hearts change and become more open to the gospel and church again after being away for so long.

Thursday was super fun. We spent the first part of the day helping paint a non-members house that are friends with our ward missionaries. We repainted all the walls and ceiling in their living room and the ceiling in another room. The colors were pretty nice before but they wanted it different so it went yellow! Soo yellow. We talked with the family there about the church and invited them to a Latino night we were having and they came! We got most of it done but had other things to do so we had to stop a little early. Later that night we went over to the Family Candias house to celebrate Carlos' birthday! Right after we ate some cake the fire alarm went off in the whole apartment building. Elder Halliday and I went to see if we could find it while the wife called the firemen. There wasn't any fire anywhere but smoke everywhere. We helped the firemen evacuate everyone while they found a smoking oven top. It was kinda lame ahaha.

Friday we had district counsel and then another meeting with our ward mission leader. He is really cool and loves the church so much. That night we had a Latino night at the church! There were quite a bit of non-members there and a good amount of the ward too. We have 3 Latino families in our ward from Peru, Mexico, and Columbia! They all made their food for us to try and it was really good.

Saturday we passed by our ami named Douglas. He is about 6'8" and just this giant teddy bear. He is super nice and has a lot of questions. He is really open the things we teach him but also has his own beliefs. He is one of the only people here that speak English very well so it was kinda fun to talk to him. We them went and saw Ado. She moved here recently from Haiti. We just stopped by to give her a Book of Mormon in Creole but she invited us in and we taught her more about the book. She instantly opened it and read a couple of different verses and was so happy. She is a super solid ami. That night we played volleyball again. This time we had 13 people there. One ward family came and brought one of the daughters who hasn't been to church in about two years which is really cool and they brought two friends who aren't members. We had another less active family come and play with us too. It was such a fun night and we got to talk to everyone and invite them to other church activities.

Sunday was pretty normal. In church we talked about ministering a lot and different ways to do it. Everyone should go out and do it because it is soo simple and easy and it will bless everyone involved. After church we had a potluck to help unify our ward and it was really nice. After that we went around to a couple of amis houses to check up on them and teach them a little.

Yesterday we started the day by finishing painting the house and talked to the family there a little more. They seem really interested. They had someone else there visiting too so we talked to him about the church but he only spoke Spanish so the ward member kinda took over but basically taught him about the church and the plan of salvation right then and there. He really liked it so we are hoping we will be able to go back soon and talk to him more before he leaves. That night we went over and Celebrated Christmas early with the older people in our ward. We got there a little bit earlier than the others so we were assigned to decorate the Christmas tree. It didn't turn out too bad.  We had about 12 people all together and ate dinner and shared stories. We then went into the living room and sang Christmas songs together. It was a really sweet experience.

I hope you all have a great week this week and have so much fun! Don't forget to do your ministering and reading! And go to the Temple! And pray! And go to Church! And be Nice to others! And sing Christmas songs! Just keep being awesome!

Love you all!

Setting up the Christmas tree. We had just done service before and didn't have time to drive home to change because our area is soo big. Elder Halliday only put up the thing in this picture.
